Community Outreach Coordinator

Job Description
The San Diego Asian Film Foundation is seeking a creative, outgoing, and responsible team member to coordinate community outreach on behalf of the organization. They will also be responsible for locking down and tracking co-presentations with community and student organizations for film screenings throughout year including the annual Fall Asian Film Festival. Finally they will help maintain the organizational database of community and student organization contact information. Ideal candidate will also be willing to act as a public liaison by strategically attending selected community events. Selected candidate will report and work with the Marketing and Public Relations Director.

Commitment
Up to 10-15 hours per week between March 1 – June 30, 2012 | Hours to increase per week between September 1 -November 1, 2012. Hours Highly Flexible

Position & Benefits
This is a volunteer staff position with a $1,000 stipend to cover expenses. Coordinator will also be given full-access to the all film screenings, and position offers the chance to experience one of the largest film and cultural events in San Diego County with hands-on experience in community building, marketing, and promotional campaigns. Selected candidate will not only have something substantial to add to the resume, but also the unique opportunity to network and build relationships within the San Diego Arts and Culture community. Selected candidate will also be able to build their film knowledge through education on the Asian Film Industry and watching important and meaningful works of Pan Asian Cinema.

Responsibilities
Our ideal candidate would possess the following skills and traits:

  • Responsible for locking down and tracking co-presentations with community and student organizations for film screening events throughout the year
  • Coordinating with the Marketing & Public Relations Director as well as the Student Marketing Interns to publicize the Spring Showcase and the Film Festival to community and student organizations
  • Developing and/or manage a team of volunteer “advocates” to help publicize the Spring Showcase and the Film Festival
  • Strategically attending community events to represent the SDAFF to strengthen community ties, and publicize the Spring Showcase and the Film Festival
  • Cultivating new partnership opportunities with community and student organizations in San Diego
  • Maintaining an updated database of community and student organization contact information

Requirements
Our ideal candidate would possess the following skills and traits:

  • Reliable transportation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to deliver verbal presentations
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple organizations at a time and meet multiple deadlines
  • Knowledge of Sphere, Kintera, or any other online donor database is a plus
  • Knowledge of arts & culture in San Diego is recommended
  • Knowledge of community organizations in San Diego is recommended
  • Knowledge and/or interest in Pan Asian cinema is recommended
  • This position is based in San Diego County, California
