Phillip Bernardino Hi my name is Phillip Bernardino, I was born and raised in San Diego. I am an aspiring cinematographer. I spend most of my days playing video games, listening to music, reading, playing basketball and watching B horror movies (Yay Thankskilling). Some people think that my life has been hard, but I find my life to be funny. I'm currently at Garfield high school, which is my 5th high school in 4 years, and I watch MMA religiously. Because of the standards I set for myself, I always wanted to go to USC (dreams do come true sometimes), so I'm going to transfer there from a community college. |

Brian Brennan Practically born with a soccer ball at his feet, Brian always has enjoyed the collaborative and creative nature of the world's most popular sport. At the start of his junior year at Rancho Bernardo High School, Brian quickly learned from his Digital Media teacher, Mr. Kallen, that the art of filmmaking takes both creativity and collaboration to a whole new level. In April 2010, applying the inspirational teachings of Mr. Kallen, Brian and four of his classmates won First Place in San Diego's 9th Annual "48 Hours of Madness" Film Competition. Brian very much looks forward to learning from and being inspired by the Reel Voices teachers and fellow summer interns. He also challenges anyone to beat him in a battle on Heroes of Newerth. |

Angel Gatus Hi my name is Angel Gatus. I'm 16 years old and I'm currently a Jr. at Valhalla High School. Music is my passion and I love to sing; I'm in a Chamber Choir Group at my school and the lead vocalist of a local band, "Spoken Remedy." My favorite color is pink and I'm the eldest child out of 4 kids. I'm a Native of San Diego. Although video production is somewhat new to me, I took an interest in filming after my brother, Austin, was diagnosed with Leukemia (Cancer of the Blood/Bone Marrow) about 4 years ago. Austin is now in remission and he is a CANCER SURVIVOR! Austin loves to make movies and I would always get to watch him make them and sometimes help him film it, or play a character he created in his story. Having a sibling with cancer was hard to deal with, but it made me a more stronger and positive person today. Austin is my inspiration in creating my documentary. I'm very excited to be able to share my story with you! |

Christian Guzman I'm Christian Guzman and I going into my junior year at High Tech High Chula Vista. For the longest time, I approached new ideas I had the same way a hippie approaches problems. Thinking about them real hard but never bothering to go out and try something. I always looked at artists doing amazing things, like statues made from typewriters or a man painting himself to blend in with his background, and thought about how I could use something like that somewhere else. Sometimes I'd get ideas just thinking about different things I'd seen. I really want to make things in a different or unique way than most people think of. Hopefully, this program will be a springboard into actually doing something and making more with my resources during my senior year. |

Calvin Ha My grandma raised me as a child, with my mom and dad serving as emotional and physical supports. I grew up with a strong Vietnamese tradition with hints of American inspiration. The positive red and negative black wires were the most wonderful toys offered to me as a child, they brought to life electric motors and capacitors keeping the days long. I like exploring different cultures and lifestyles, it is the best way I believe to experience life. My grandma always taught me to cherish and appreciate the simple things, finding beauty in them motivated me to where I am today. Film, and I mean traditional 35mm cinema film, has inspired me since the legendary film: Pulp Fiction by Quentin Tarantino. A camera has the ability to see beyond physical barriers and reveal abstract concepts like love and hate that we can relate back to in our own lives. I am a Marauder from Mira Mesa High School planning to attend community college and transferring to UCLA for film related studies. On most days, you'll find me in the local Panera Bread with a mocha espresso, writing about the next scene. |

Kevin Tran I grew up in a Vietnamese family, with the typical Asian parents who want their children to grow up, be lawyers, doctors, and Engineers. As you can see, that isn't the case. I can't count the times my mother and my family had tried to discourage me from this film path, and I want to prove them wrong. I'm a senior at Mira Mesa High School and I love everything about it. I played water polo, I swam, and took up French. I remembering begging my mom for a Canon 7D, so i can start shooting some great videos, eventually she gave in. When I got the camera, I started to really get in to photography, especially with old film cameras. Through film, I grew up, and saw the world in a different light. Through film, I'm a storyteller, an artist, a person who hopes to inspire and stimulate the minds of my viewers. |
